The Engineer Professional Education Study Program (PSPPI) of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) held the 6th Batch of Engineer Oath Taking for the February 2022 period on Thursday (10/02) at 09.00 WIB in a limited offline manner in the Patra Room of Hotel Noormans Semarang and online through the Zoom meeting platform.

The event, which took place offline, was limited to the Patra Room of Hotel Noormans Semarang, which was carried out with strict health protocols. Each of the committee, participants, and guests who were present before entering the Patra Room had been tested with antigen by the medical staff and the results were negative. The room quota is also limited to only 120 people out of a maximum total of 400 people.

On this occasion, it was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D., Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University Dr.Nat.Tech. Siswo Sumardiono, S.T., M.T., Deputy Dean of Resources, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, Dr. Abdul Syakur, S.T., M.T., Managers, and Supervisors within the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP.

As well as also invited the Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association Dr. Ir. Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga, M.Eng.Sc., IPU., Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association Dr.Ing. Ilham Akbar Habibie, Dipl.Ing., MBA., Executive Director of the Indonesian Engineers Association Ir. Habibie Razak, S.T., M.M., IPU., ACPE., ASEAN Eng., Deputy Executive Director of the Indonesian Engineers Association Ir Muharam Ahmadi S.T., Chairman of the Implementing Agency of the Engineer Profession Program Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Kurnia Parmadi IPU., Chairman of the Management of the Indonesian Engineers Association for the Central Java Region Dr. T Herry Ludiro Wahyono S.T.,  M.T., Vice Chairman of the Management of the Indonesian Engineers Association for the Central Java Region Prof. Dr. Totok Prasetyo Beng M.T., IPU.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the Engineers who had taken the oath. “Congratulations to all of you, I hope this will be useful knowledge for the nation and this country,” said Prof. Agung.

Furthermore, Prof. Agung hopes that these engineers must have empathy and sympathy for the surrounding community. “Next we have to empathize and sympathize with the environment. So this is one of our duties as engineers that later empathy and sympathy must be considered, so we must carry this out well and professionally in the field,” he explained.

With the selection of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP as a Corruption-Free Regional Integrity Zone (ZI-WBK) by the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), it requires engineers to have integrity and become role models and agents of change in improving the quality of services to the community.

“So I hope that you really have integrity, become a role model in the field, be an example in the field and finally be able to move this nation to jointly improve the quality of its services to the community. So we entrust the mandate from this WBK to all of you. Please be able to be maintained because to become a WBK currently in Indonesia there are only 5 universities,” explained Prof. Agung.

Meanwhile, Prof. Agung added that recently infrastructure development in Indonesia is indeed being intensively implemented. With the state cost budget for the construction of nearly 400 Trillion and the needs of engineers newly met at 40% of the total needs of Engineers of 260 thousand, it becomes a great challenge and responsibility for Engineers. “It is the responsibility of all of us who will be able to practice Engineers and we must continue to be excited,” he concluded.

In his report, the Head of the Engineer Professional Education Study Program (PSPPI) of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widayat, S.T., M.T., IPM., explained that the number of prospective graduates in the February 2020 period was 58 people with 52 people with Cumlaude predicate. The number that has been approved by the PSPPI until February 2022 is 277 people. Meanwhile, the number of PSPPI Engineers who have received professional engineer certification (SIP) – IPP / IPM / IPU is 86 people.

In this February 2022 period, PSPPI graduates come from several state institutions and institutions, including the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati, IST AKPRIND Yogyakarta, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning / National Land Agency, Ministry of PUPR, Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Cirebon Regency, RSUP dr. Kariadi, Air Force, PT. Adhi Karya TBK, PT. Pertamina (Persero), PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) TBK, and PT Jaya Konstrusi.

The graduation of these Engineers is through the Past Learning Recognition program or RPL. The assessment is carried out through portfolios, education workshops, writing case study reporting, research, and community service. “Of course, this additional understanding, knowledge, and competence are expected to provide further provisions for the engineers to contribute to the nation and state so that the development in Indonesia becomes more targeted and follows the regulations in Indonesia,” said Prof. Widayat.

Prof. Widayat hopes that by taking this oath, engineers can contribute and benefit the surrounding community. “We hope that you will make a more effective contribution to the development of nation building and the Indonesian state,” he explained.
